As promised earlier, here’s the story to go with Day 4 of the photo challenge.
Day 4: Stranger
A week or so before Christmas, Rob’s parents got this card. It was addressed to his parents by name, with their correct address, and the little note inside referenced Rob (by the family nickname “Robbie”) and his love of fishing.
Nothing too out of the ordinary…except that nobody had ever seen of/heard of these people before. At first his parents just assumed it was a card from some of my older relatives, but once they asked me about it and we realized it was just from total strangers, it became a mystery! Of course I immediately became obsessed with getting to the bottom of it, even though no one else really cared that much. COME ON YOU GUYS THIS IS MY NANCY DREW DREAMS COMING TRUE.
There was no return address on it so beyond the postal stamp (Louisville), we have no idea where it came from. The names signed are “Aunt Fissa” and “Uncle Roy” (or maybe “Ray”) and they included a picture of themselves which nobody recognized.
Fissa and Ray/Roy promised in the note that they would stop by on Christmas day…and you better believe I was at Rob’s parents’ house that day, waiting to see if the mysterious Christmas card strangers would show. They never did show up, and we never did figure out who they were.
